Why Core of Knowledge?

In order to excel as an Aesthetic Practitioner in the area of IPL treatments; it is essential to undertake a Core of Knowledge certifications. The 'Core of Knowledge' itself represents a body of knowledge that underpins the safe use of the Intesnse Pulse Light (IPL) in clinical practice. It is intended to be undertaken by all staff using this device in a range of applications, including medical, surgical, dental and aesthetic practices. The primary aim of this course is to provide you with an understanding of the basic principles of Intense Pulse Light safety. This course has been formulated to satisfy the training requirements contained in the September 2015 MHRA Device Bulletin "Lasers, intense light source systems and LEDs – guidance for safe use in medical, surgical, dental and aesthetic practices" In order to apply for a 'special treatment license', all Aesthetic Clinicians must have a valid completion certificate in the 'Core of Knowledge' sector which needs to be certified and formulated by a Laser Protection Advisor (LPA).
